Andorra · Citizenship by naturalisation
Andorran nationality by naturalisation
Open in law, but effectively unavailable in practice for relocating families. It requires 20 years of principal and permanent residence, plus mandatory renunciation of all other nationalities.
We include this simply to rule it out. Andorra is a residency and tax jurisdiction, nothing more. Any plan built around Andorran citizenship as the end goal is not really a plan. It would mean 20 years of genuine permanent residence, followed by renouncing an existing passport. That is a proposition almost no UHNW family is willing to accept.

- Renunciation is mandatory and enforced. There is no dual-citizenship workaround in Andorra, and nothing suggests that will change.
- Principal and permanent residence is a higher standard than the 90 days that sustain a passive permit. Years spent on passive residency at minimum presence may not count toward the 20.
- The reduced-period and marriage routes appear in advisory sources. The exact statutory conditions in the Llei qualificada de la nacionalitat are unconfirmed, and the confidence rating reflects that.
- Andorran nationality would not deliver EU free movement in any event. Andorra is not an EU member.
