Residency
Most newcomers arrive on a work visa and later apply for the Skilled Migrant Category resident visa, which uses a points system based on skills, age and job offer. Investors can use the Active Investor Plus visa, and residence opens a path to permanent residence and citizenship.
Tax
New Zealand taxes residents on worldwide income with rates rising to 39 percent, and there is no capital gains tax or social security tax, though there is a 15 percent GST on most goods.
