J-Find is essentially irrelevant to UHNW families, but it is included here because it is routinely bundled into Japan golden visa marketing. It is simply a two-year graduate job-search permit with a JPY 200,000 funds test, nothing more.

Graduated within the last five years from a university ranked in the top 100 of at least two of the QS, THE and Shanghai rankings, or completed a Japanese government scholarship programme. Must hold at least JPY 200,000 in funds for initial living costs.

What can go wrong
- Two years maximum. On its own, it leads nowhere. You must convert to a work status.
- Eligibility is limited to graduates within the last five years from top-100 ranked universities. It is not open to mid-career applicants.
- Despite how it is sometimes marketed, this is not an investment or residence programme.
