Jordan Real Estate Residency

Open Last verified July 2026

Introduced as part of the 2025–2026 reforms. It explicitly does not lead to citizenship, regardless of how long the property or residency is held.

A cheap regional residency, and an honest one about what it is not. The explicit statement that it never leads to citizenship is unusually clear for this sector, and it deserves respect. It means the only real reason to take it is that you want to live in Jordan.

What can go wrong
  • It does not lead to citizenship. Ever. The government has said so explicitly. Do not let anyone imply otherwise.
  • Property must be held for 5 years without sale or mortgage. The capital is locked, and you cannot leverage it.
  • The 50% premium for buying from a private seller rather than a developer distorts the market against you. You would be paying JOD 300,000 for what a developer sells at JOD 200,000.
  • Jordanian residential property is illiquid, and foreign demand for it is thin.
  • Regional geopolitical exposure is material.
