Issued for five years, but not beyond the validity of the foreign passport. From age 45 it is issued for the full validity of the passport.

What can go wrong
- IT IS TIED TO YOUR PASSPORT'S VALIDITY. A short-dated passport shortens the permit.
- Holding the card is not the same as satisfying the continuity test. Extended absences will still break a naturalisation clock.
